Maria Sjöberg is Head of Preclinical at Biotech Research & Product Development. She is responsible for a global team with team members located at Chiesi sites in Italy, Canada and Sweden. Maria and her team support Chiesi within the Preclinical area and in the development of biotech products from early research to clinical phase and in the process to marketing approval.
Maria joined Chiesi in May 2019 and she has a background in Biology with a PhD from the Karolinska Institute (KI), has experience from being a research group leader at KI and fromdrug discovery and development in small, mid-size and large pharmaceutical companies.
What do you think is the most fun with your work?
I think the most fun part is to work with engaged, professional, qualified, nice and fun people from Italy, Canada, France and the US. We all share a common goal, to develop therapeutics for patients with severe diseases.
Which qualities do you believe are the most important to be a part of Chiesi?
I believe the most important qualities are motivation, qualifications and patient centricity.
How do you feel that you have developed during your time at Chiesi?
My team was recently put together and is now growing, and my ambition is to develop it to become an efficient and qualified Preclinical team to support the development of biotech products at Chiesi Globally. This is my current focus.
