We are happy to introduce Helena. She is a part of the team Biotech Research and Product Development function at Chiesi, which has their facilities at Solna Campus next to the Karolinska Institute. Helena has been in her role as Senior Scientist within CMC (Chemical Manufacturing and Control) since 2019, and before that she had the position of Research Scientist CMC for 6 years.  Helena’s team became officially fully integrated in Chiesi in 2018 after an acquisition of former Zymenex A/S.

Helena is responsible for the development, documentation, and coordination of bioassays/immunoassays, as well as for the development of downstream processes (DSP) and technical transfer of DSP to CMO/CRO. Helena has a Master of Science (MSc) in Chemical Engineering focused on drug development, and she has more than 20 years of experience in the field of Protein Drug Development, Enzyme Replacement Therapy and Rare Diseases.

What do you think is the most fun with your work?

I believe it is the knowledge and understanding that in the end my work will benefit patients in increasing their quality of life. I also love the fact that there is always something new to learn in the field of biotechnology.

Which qualities do you believe are the most important to be a part of Chiesi?

I would say it is important to value team spirit, and to have a sense of quality and a solution-oriented mindset.

How do you feel that you have developed during your time at Chiesi?

So far, working at Chiesi has provided me with experience of working in a larger pharma company, since my previous experience has been in a much smaller company. For now, I am developing my skills within the field of potency assays and immunogenicity.

I was also heavily involved in the planning of our new laboratory as well as the execution of the move to our new facilities at KI Campus Solna/Stockholm which was very developing.
